About Us

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes
In 2012, we spent the year backpacking around the world, and by the end of it we found it hard to go back to the "normal" lifestyle  we had previously lived. While we can not call ourselves minimalists, we try to acquire real life experiences that are far more important to us than materialistic things. Both of us share the love of the ocean, so we decided to take on sailing and go for a bit of a trip.

We do not have a set plan or a destination for this sailing adventure. Our general route is to sail from Florida to Caribbean Islands and then maybe on to South America. We are open to exciting, frustrating, fascinating and challenging times at sea. Our little pup Znak is sharing this adventure with us, so we are figuring out how to travel with our dog as we go. We are thankful to our families, friends and colleagues for being in our lives and supporting us as we embark on this journey.

Jeff

A jack of all trades and master of none, I'm splashing salt water all over my engineering experience in the name of adventure. My wife said I'm Co-Captain, and with a boat, a camera and some good tunes, we'll tell you about our new life of discovery on the sea.

Znak

My name is Znak (Ukrainian for "sign") and I am five years old. My job is to give plenty of kisses and love to my humans, when I am not busy chasing  frisbees. My goal is to became Captain one day, but for now I've joined as a Security Guard In Training.

Alena

A few years ago I made a passing comment to Jeff that we should sail to South America, so I guess that makes me the brains behind this adventure. On top of all that I'll be Co-Captaining this vessel and bringing the much needed woman's touch to our floating home.
